Becky was raised in the Pacific North West her entire life, surrounded by a multitude of dogs and cats, including her border collie, Skye. At an early age she knew she wanted to work with animals. She spent most of her teenage years volunteering at local animal shelters. In high school, she split her days going between school and a technical college for Veterinary Assisting. She did multiple internships at local veterinary hospitals, as well as wildlife sanctuaries. But she knew in her heart training was where she belonged.
She spent awhile training guide dogs but was always conflicted as their training techniques didn’t fall in line with her own values. She found her true calling when she acquired her Belgian Malinois, Pivot, in late 2013. Together, they found the joys of training for dog sports and have now explored a multitude of different venues. Becky and Pivot currently compete and train in agility, flyball, rally obedience, formal obedience, barn hunt, lure coursing, and nosework. Pivot is the 10th Malinois in history to achieve her Master's title in barnhunt, and is only a few qualifying scores away from earning her Championship.
Becky believes strongly in trust. Having trust in your dog and growing together makes for a stronger relationship. Playing different games and working on engagement will help you expand that relationship and together you can do anything.
